THIS CITY LOOKS SO PRETTY
[/sub] do you wanna burn it with me? beauty was not often something that was present in the likes of the underworld. gloom, death, and decay – none quite fulfilling. mind you, he loved who he was, loved the death that pervaded the air in his own special realm. this was his realm, indeed. neither of his brothers, save for jupiter once, had frequented his land or could even stand being within it for more than a few minutes. ahh yes, it was all his. previous to finding his maiden, a certain pluto titus would have never dreamed of longing for beauty. it was simply unheard of. yet, here he was, wishing she was at his side. prosperina, despite his wishes, had turned him into somewhat of a noble god. he would always be bitter and selfish, but at least she had helped to ease his rough edges. what was worse was that she had even managed to read the emotions he kept hidden behind devilishly emerald eyes. he was thankful that no one, aside from his wife, had seen this side of him. well, he felt the need to hold some sort of composure. for centuries he had been regarded as the god of the underworld, merciless and deathly.
a finger caressed the lukewarm waters of the watching pool, letting his hand sift through it until a picture came to view. no need to guess who it was. gaze followed her bending form, holding back the smile that was threatening to blossom across his features. what a pansy he had turned into. everyday seemed like yesterday when you were immortal and pluto could feel her tears on skin, as though it was simply like yesterday. prosperina had cried for days after her initial capture and only did pluto’s embrace halt the tears. he pulled himself back from his memories, watching her a moment longer in the murky pool. he slapped the water angrily, her form disappearing as he did so.
form began pacing the stone floor, moving back and forth its worn surface. the only thing he was able to come up with was that he was completely angered with ceres, blaming the entire situation on her. had she not been irrational about prosperina, pluto wouldn’t have to be away from her. jaw rotated with obvious agitation, scowling at the thought of his sister. he felt entirely weak in the situation for not being able to prevent prosperina from leaving but even jupiter had to step in and require a few things out of him. as far as he was concerned, he was the most powerful and important god and he should have been able to handle the situation with more control centered around him.
prosperina was a god, thus making her immortal, though pluto still wasn’t comfortable with her choice of scenery for her leisure time. it was the best of means in which to summon him, if you will, but he was not the only deadly thing that was bound to be lingering in the shadows and dying herbage. it had taken him little to no time to ascend to the mortal realm. it was not a place he frequented often, nor was welcomed but it wasn’t going to stop him from seeing his wife, that in which he was bound to. you shouldn’t be here… he should have been angry with her for putting herself in danger, even though there really was no real danger to her. ceres’ threats were danger enough.
he held her within his emerald gaze, turning it away after a moment to note the flower she had restored. every dormant vein and instinct that lived within him told him to squash it but he couldn’t bring himself to do it, knowing that she had created the faint splendor. your mother will not be pleased. he eased toward her, his large, destructive hands cradling her delicate chin. his thumb wiped away the tears that had stained her beautiful features before his lips brushed against her forehead. it was only natural for his arms to sweep around her, pulling her into his chest. in his embrace, he seemed to tower over her. he was brawny and muscular in comparison to her dainty form and it simply seemed to clash. come away with me. it was a hollow plead, knowing that in the case of such events, ceres would throw a complete hissy fit. snow in june, well that would be a disappointment.

oh boy i hear you in my dreams , ( I FEEL YOUR WHISPER ACROSS THE SEA, I KEEP YOU WITH ME IN MY HEART ) you make it easier when life gets hard , on his territory after all. and he had never been good at resisting his temptations. “i know,” she said softly. if ceres caught her here, especially with her husband, things would get nasty very quickly. she let her hazel eyes wander up to his and she smiled knowingly as he dropped her gaze to inspect the flower she had just rejuvenated. “is this why you came? you couldn’t let a beautiful flower full of life blossom on your meadow, could you?” she teased lightly. it was ironic that she, who loved the beautiful wildflowers that sprung up in the meadows, could love someone like him, who despised all the beautiful things the world had to offer. your mother will not be pleased. a soft sigh escaped her lips upon hearing his words. she knew that only too well. and it only hurt her more to know it would be her fault if they were caught. but her guilty thoughts were halted abruptly as she felt his gentle caress, his lips on her skin. his touch sent pleasant shivers up and down her spine. as his arms wound around her, pulling her closer, she let herself enjoy the moment, pushing away the inkling of guilt that kept persistently trying to ruin the few precious moments she had to share with her husband. it was hard for most to believe just how tender the god of the underworld, of death, could be. the other gods and goddesses refused to believe he had a soft bone in his body, but she knew more than they ever could and it delighted her to know she had broken through his tough shell, a shell that had never been penetrated before. she lived for the moments when he had his guard completely down. they were rare and often replaced by his temper, but she soaked up every minute of them. his next words, however, instead of producing the pleasant shivers she loved, sent icy shivers down her spine and she pulled away from his embrace, sorrowful eyes cast downward to avoid his penetrating gaze. oh how she longed to be able to say take me now, to be able to return to the underworld with him. but it would only bring despair and trouble, heaps of trouble. her mother would throw the biggest fit that the world had ever seen. she would go to jupiter, she would plead for him to help her, and he would of course oblige. prosperina hated that jupiter favored her mother. things would have turned out much more nicely for her had he not been so willing to appease ceres. “you know that’s not possible,” she replied, voice barely audible. she was determined not to let her husband see just how much his words affected her, how much her heart ached to follow his command. why had he spoken those words? he knew it would only bring them both despair. word count: 716. notes: oh please! yours was great! haha. :] [/ul]

THIS CITY LOOKS SO PRETTY
[/sub] do you wanna burn it with me? previous to the capture of prosperina, pluto had been more than content to bide his time alone. he’d watch over the sea of souls, examine the river as it twisted with the moans of the dead. cerebrus was there in addition – a three headed dog was more than enough company. apparently not. the underworld was no place for a women, especially one who was in love with flowery things. if any woman were to set foot within his terrain, pluto ensured himself that she would be emotionally strong, morbid, and dark as he himself was. he was a handsome god, more so than his brothers, and therefore, he saw it necessary that his wife was equally blessed with looks. turns out, there were very few goddesses, or demigods for that matter, who shared the pleasures of death as he had. when jupiter presented prosperina as his only choice, pluto saw no other means but to accept the offer. she neither morbid nor dark and hardly as emotionally strong as he himself was. cool spoken and rational prosperina was in comparison to his raging temperament and irrationality. no, no, no, what was his brother thinking? a woman with such characteristics could never thrive in the underworld, let alone earn his love. but she had.
peering at the innocence of his wife and her contentment with him seemed unnatural. it was safe to say that very few, mortals and gods alike, were pleased with the presence of pluto. he was the bearer of the death and the keeper of souls, not someone to be discussing philosophy or the weather with. ceres would have been after him had she known of his presence though he pushed the thought of the angry goddess to the back of his mind, focusing on his own goddess. he was unwelcome in most of the mortal realm but in the one place he was welcomed, prosperina was not. it does not belong here. his tones were serious, not intending to harm prosperina’s ego. he had been used to things his way, for centuries, and prosperina was only trying to mesh their worlds together. he could not draw his eyes from the flower, as little of a thing as it seemed. she always smelled of sweet lavender and daisies while he smelled of decay. truthfully, he wondered how prosperina tolerated many of the things he was accustomed to. or better yet, how she tolerated him.
it was rare for anyone to wander down this particular path but pluto couldn’t help but keep his actions to a minimum. he refrained from kissing her again though his lips longed to meet hers, to take her back to their abode where she belonged. arms remained supportive of her structure though he pulled away slightly as not to appear clingy in the eyes of a wanderer. pluto never meant to come off as cold but letting his guard down outside of the underworld’s gates had not yet become his strength. a certain part of the god scolded himself during every moment of this¸warning him not to lose his composure. he had always loved the demon of a god he had been and hadn’t ever intended on losing that, no matter how much his love increased for prosperina. a part of him would always long for the gore and desolation of the world he grew apart of, even while she attempted to tame his wild heart.
pluto hadn’t meant for her to pull away but he hadn’t prevented it either. he let his grasp slip from her, a weathered hand running through his hair in habit. it is possible, you just choose to keep the mortals happy. his features harbored a grimace, glancing over her expression. ceres promised to remain civilized if prosperina remained above grounds during half of the year. when she was away, the bitch went on strike and refused to provide a harvest season for the mortals. she had just as bad a temperament as he did. forget them, just leave with me. why do you sacrifice your own happiness? his voice boomed now, growing more and more agitated with each moment he was forced to live without her.

oh boy i hear you in my dreams , ( I FEEL YOUR WHISPER ACROSS THE SEA, I KEEP YOU WITH ME IN MY HEART ) you make it easier when life gets hard , bad as everyone said. well, maybe he was, but with a lot of persistence and love, she had had managed to calm him a bit. only a bit. there were still many centuries of soft, patient words and angry, harsh ones in store. the negativity directed towards her flower did not hurt as it would have in the beginning. after time spent living with pluto, she had come to find that his love for all things morbid often produced averseness to the lovely things that she enjoyed. originally, she had misinterpreted his disapproving words and actions to mean that his love for her was not strong, that he loved her less whenever she subjected him to the objects she loved. the conclusion had upset her terribly. yet he treated her the same way as he always had whenever she wasn’t revealing her loves to him and it didn’t take the bright goddess long to realize it wasn’t her that he was averse to, it was simply the fact that he was so accustomed to the morbidness of his realm and he was not accustomed to her pretty things. her realization had made her feel quite foolish for ever doubting her husband’s love for her. “and so it doesn’t,”she agreed with a sigh, focusing her dark brown eyes on the flower that was fouling her husband’s territory. within a few seconds the flower was drained of its vibrant color and lay shriveled on the ground, no trace of its previous beauty apparent. it displeased prosperina to “kill”, but she understood the desolate meadows was no place for a flower to be, at least not when her husband was around. a frown made it’s way onto her face, marring that which was always graced with a smile. “it is not just the mortals i keep happy, pluto. you know my mother. you know she would never let us be,” she said, rebuking him gently. “i don’t sacrifice my happiness for them as it is not my choice to make.” she knew her words would only rile her husband up even more. nevertheless, they were the truth. however, she also knew his rising voice was very dangerous. she lifted her calm, brown eyes to his, focusing them intently on his emerald ones, while placing her delicate hand in his. “you must believe me when i say that i would leave with you in an instant if I knew no harm would come of it.” she spoke soothingly, hoping to remind him that his voice, so much louder than any mortal, could easily make its way to ceres’ ever attentive ears. “but trouble would come of it. and as for the mortals---" she paused, knowing she was about to enter dangerous territory. her fascination with mortals baffled pluto as well as disgusted him. he didn’t believe she should concern herself with their petty affairs. taking a deep breath, she continued. “i could not let myself do that to the mortals. it would not be fair.” there, it was said. she steeled herself for the harsh rebuke that was sure to come, all the while hoping desperately that he would stay in control. neither of them could afford for his temper to blow now, not with ceres so close. word count: 928. notes: insane muse burst. haha. somehow i couldn't figure out how to get her saying yes in here. maybe in the next post he mentions something about how the mortals are all corrupt and they deserve to be punished? idk. THIS CITY LOOKS SO PRETTY
[/sub] do you wanna burn it with me? it wasn’t just pluto’s feelings toward life and abode that weren’t exactly welcomed among the god. in fact, many didn’t even care for him. his own family, complete of his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews – they despised him! the fact that he represented death itself was an apparent turn off. to be honest, pluto could count the number of times he had been to olympus on two hands. he was a god and one of the more important ones, therefore meaning he couldn’t have been banned from olympus. the thing of it was that most of the other gods did all in their power to prevent him from coming up to their natural realm. had anyone found it necessary to converse with him, they avoided the underworld and simply arranged to meet, in the mortal realm instead – most often this particular spot. well now, the fact that pluto was highly unwanted in most spots only helped to fuel the way in which he lived. the displeasure of others pleased him beyond anything else. he took it upon himself to act as a spook, visiting mortals in places that he wasn’t to be expected. many, however, knew of his presence before they even saw the ghostly figurine. everything beautiful around him faded to grey and living things had the tendency to wilt. it was just such visits which often ended up getting him in trouble.
the underworld hadn’t always been as lonely as most presumed it to be. though he was a figure of death and nothing more, pluto had handsome enough features to attract just about anyone he wished. he had drawn many nymphs to his chambers and even tricked a few to get what it was he wanted. it hadn’t truly mattered that he wasn’t welcomed in most of rome, he was able to get what he desire anyway. there were those few, like prosperina, who had felt bad for the god – for being so handsome and stuck to a solitary life of watching the dead. to pluto, it wasn’t so. it was the thrill that brought him to the job and the thrill that kept him there. being as demanding and cocky was he was, pluto loved his realm simply for the fact that he was allowed to be in charge. he collected and observed the spirits as the melted into the river. they proved to be no trouble at all, having no emotions or objections to display to him. the titans had once occupied his realm but pluto thought they did it no justice. it was simply a pit in which to keep them prisoner, nothing to the extravagant measures it had met to this day. olympus wasn’t transformed into anything but a bunch of clouds, while pluto actually worked to make his realm something great. ah yes, complete control.
it had taken a vast amount of time and numerous large arguments before pluto had even began to accept that prosperina came with her own measures. she had initially demanded to be treated as an equal god, rather than his mistress. of course, pluto had not expected such thoughts from her, simply ignoring them, for the most part. it wasn’t until she had started to alter his chambers that his temper had gotten the best of him. bright colors replaced the normal black and a soft tone was carried throughout the abode. pluto made a scene of ruining everything she altered – tearing it down, burning it, throwing it in the river, offering it to cerebrus, and whatever else it took to remove all she had done. he had half expected her to break down and cry before submitting to the his rules, but it was quite the opposite. his anger only appeared to make her rebel more until pluto was forced to find a compromise. he now allowed for her little alterations in their home, but here was not the place for them. on earth, where he was feared above all others, he had some shred of dignity to maintain. he watched as the flower shriveled to nothing, matching in with the rest of the natural décor. it pleased pluto to see the death, holding in a soft smirk to himself. what pained her only pleased him.
a scowl passed into the air before he could suppress it, turning his back on prosperina. why do you always have to worry about your god damn mother? what about me? when are you going to worry about me? it was clear that his temper was on the rise, as it was every time this conversation had come up. you’re full grown and a goddess! don’t you think its about time you started living your own life? he kicked at the ground, still turned away from her. ceres had always lived her life through prosperina’s, but it wasn’t only taking a toll on her, but him as well. he rounded sharply at her comment, shaking his head at her. the mortals? hah! what use do we have with them? your mother puts winter on them forever, so what? its not our problem because we’ll keep living after they’re gone. brow softened slightly, as though pleading for her compassion. its not fair to me, prosperina! he was damn near close to taking her back with him without a choice. the figure paced the land, defeating the already decayed herbage around him until it appeared charred. i’ve giving you the choice to leave with me. because either way, i’m not leaving alone.

oh boy i hear you in my dreams , ( I FEEL YOUR WHISPER ACROSS THE SEA, I KEEP YOU WITH ME IN MY HEART ) you make it easier when life gets hard , nice, but each time those thoughts were instantly pushed to the back of her mind. being kind was just her personality; it was the way she was, and she was not about to change her ways for a few grumbling gods. every now and then she believed the gods of olympus often forgot she was indeed a goddess. her actions were just too caring in their opinions. thankfully, though, not all the deities thought that of her. not all of them were ruthless. her sweet character and selflessness earned her many friends among the variety of gods and goddesses. apparently venus knew what she was doing when she commanded cupid to shoot pluto with a love arrow. propserina’s traits perfectly offset pluto’s. with any other goddess, pluto’s selfish nature and love of power would have been enough to drive them away. however, prosperina was selfless and after centuries of placing the desires of others in front of her own, she had seen no difficulties in letting pluto have his way. well, most of the time. bearing in mind that she had been raised by a very strong-willed mother, prosperina was not a complete pushover. as much as she loved to avoid conflicts, they were inevitable with pluto. for most, being near him was just begging for an argument to start. and in spite of her peace loving nature, even she could not avoid butting heads with him from time to time. the first major conflict presented itself when she insisted upon him treating her as an equal and not simply as his mistress. she was not to be ordered around and told what to do. there was only so much of that she could take with a smile on her face. of course his thirst for complete control had made that an almost impossible request for him to follow. he had ignored her, and she had become quite frustrated with him. after a few more tries without success, it had been time to take matters into her own hands. she had remodeled his normally morose chamber, bringing some bright colors onto the dark palette. that had not gone down very well for him. she had known about his horrible temper, but she hadn’t been prepared for the temper tantrum he had thrown. needless to say, she had been very upset. it had brought a very uncharacteristic smirk to her face when pluto realized she was not the pushover he had thought she was. apparently there was a lot more of her mother in her than he knew. eventually, after a large number of arguments, they had reached a compromise. it satisfied her immensely and she hoped her husband had learned a little bit about sharing their two very different worlds. after revealing to him that she was not to be shoved around, which had proved her point perfectly, she had more or less returned to pleasing him. as much as she was used to his episodes of anger and egotistical ways, the words spit angrily from his mouth shocked her into a stunned silence. she knew he was selfish, yet maybe her love for him had blinded her a little too much. he thought she didn’t worry about him? propserina had never been one to anger easily. you would have to do something terrible to evoke even the slightest harsh word from her. but the complete self-centeredness of his words made her blood boil. she had done everything for him. she let him have his way at least ninety eight percent of the time and now he believed she didn’t do anything for him? it was unbelievable. “you think i do nothing for you, that i don’t worry about you? i have done everything i ever could for you, to please you, because i love you. and now you treat me this way.” she stared angrily at his back, words spoken so icily that her voice was unrecognizable even to herself. he spun around and she fixed her eyes on him. eyes that were normally a gentle brown were now cold and hard. “it’s not fair to you? you? i know you are selfish, everyone does, but you have reached an entirely new level today. you think it’s fair to me? i’m constantly torn between you and my mother, the two people i love most. does that sound fair to you?” she could feel her voice rising, just as his had. there was no doubt now that ceres would be coming soon, yet prosperina could not control her anger now. the threat in his words just fueled the fire even more. “you’re right, pluto. i am full grown and i’ve made my decision. i’m not leaving and you better not try to make me.” she ended her words with finality, glaring frostily up at him. word count: 979.. notes: uh-oh, rebellious. haha. she will definitely not be pleased when he takes her away. THIS CITY LOOKS SO PRETTY
[/sub] do you wanna burn it with me? selfish was practically a synonym for pluto, he was an extremely immoral man. it had taken him a bit of time to even agree with himself that it was time to marry. truth of it was that he didn’t particularly feel like sharing the underworld with anyone but the souls who kept his world revolving. on numerous accounts jupiter had requested the use of his chariot, in which pluto would come up with some pathetic lie in order to avoid sharing his owner personal possessions. at one point, he had even mentioned that two of four horses were lame. an immortal animal becoming injured is the same as a god: rare. as for the helmet he possessed, he had locked it away under the river of souls to prevent anyone from requesting it or stealing it from him. by the time he had finally gotten over the fact that he was going to need to share the underworld with prosperina, she had already been snatched away from him by her mother. it angered him gravely that he was forced to share his wife not only with ceres but the entire mortal realm. for a selfish man, it was his worst nightmare. ceres had all of prosperina’s childhood to spend time with her and now it was time for her to spend time with pluto. he didn’t want prosperina to love mortals, or even her mother. no, he wanted all of her love to himself and frankly, he wasn’t sure why. there was a point in which he claimed he never needed love and now it was all he strove for. pluto always got what he wanted and he wasn’t about to make an exception now.
pluto went on for the longest time, wanting and dreaming about prosperina before he had even known what had happened to him. he was quite upset with both cupid and venus but eventually realized what good came out of cupid’s arrow. even after the effect had worn off, pluto was still in love with prosperina. the general idea was that the gods had hoped pluto’s attitude would improve a bit if prosperina was placed in his life. as soon as the two started fighting, all of olympus groaned as they thought their plan had failed. every fiber of his being made him want to return prosperina to earth but it was cupid’s strong love which kept her there. he had been with prosperina for so long and he wasn’t about to lose her now. ceres had her control over her daughter and pluto wanted to break it, not only for prosperina but for the sake of himself as well.
these days, the pair didn’t typically fight. they had generally gotten over their rough patches and knew what topics they were going to disagree on. however, there werer the rare, smaller fights in which led to pluto’s eruption of anger. prosperina had long since learned to curb him, but the topic of today’s discussion wasn’t about to go unnoticed. he was only able to be with his wife for half of the year, if even. he was finally ready to break the bonds of her mother and prosperina was basically speaking straight from her mother’s mouth. i’m trying to do this for you. why can’t you open your eyes, or are you really that insolent? by no means had he meant to insult her though instead of pausing to apologize, he took the moment of her silence to keep speaking. this is the single time where i haven’t been selfish. i’m trying to get you to be yourself, do what you want. you know its what you want but you won’t let go of your damn mother. you’re mine, not hers. his hands rounded into fists, fingernails digging deep into his palms until they were white and throbbing with pain. you can’t love us both and you’ve had your time with her. he stared at her in disbelief, wanting to kill everything in his path for the anger she was bringing out in him. oh, so now you don’t love me? either way, he didn’t give a damn – she was coming home.
he waved a hand, refraining from glancing up at the sky. he hadn’t needed to look to know what was occurring. heavy winds swirled around them, picking up the leaves and natural debris that littered the land. the soft grey sky had turned to an evil black, cascading night over the land as four black horses hooked up to an imperial chariot seemed to pop out of out of the ground. if she was going to put her foot down, pluto was going to have to uproot her. fine then. force it is. he wrapped an arm around her middle, pulling her into the chariot with him before the horses swept off.
