Who I Am
full name: cupido amor
nicknames: cupid, love, amor
god of: erotic love
sexuality: heterosexual
In The Mirror
i look a lot like: chace crawford
abilities: archery, dominion over the dead in hades, the creatures of the sea and the gods in olympus
this is me on a good day:
Get Down Deep
i love: psyche, life, love, sex, pleasure, my bow and arrows, my mother, playing pranks on others, good food, art, stories, great music, beautiful women, happy couples, people asking for my help
i hate: people who are too immersed with serious things in life, lack of aesthetics, too much control, crudeness, thirst for blood, poets and artists who think i'm blind, broken promises, boredom, war, egyptian deities which aren't even near beautiful, nonbelievers, promiscuity
i fear: hatred, distrust, the proliferation of evil, blatant lies, lack of remorse
i hope to: be just a bit more serious with life; see things through other people's eyes; stop being so hypocritical and lazy
i hide:
i'm weird because: i make others (my favorite is jupiter) fall in love with those i've thrown lead-tipped arrows to when i'm bored; i believe that obsession can sometimes be called justifiable (like mine with my wife); i'm more like my father than i want to be
what i'm like:
Where I'm From
parents: venus and mars
siblings: who knows?
significant other: psyche
pets: - - -.
possessions: two sets of arrows: one set gold-headed, to make others love; and the other lead-headed, to take back any love once had before or to make others feel hatred for somebody
my story:
He made all the men who wanted her fall in love with other, lesser women so that he would have her for himself. When nobody fell in love with Psyche, her parents consulted and oracle, bribed by Cupid, who told them to leave Psyche on the nearest mountain, for her beauty is so great that she is not meant for any mortal man. Terrified, they had no choice but to follow the oracle's instructions. There, Zephyrus, the west wind, carried Psyche away to a magnificent palace where she was attended to by invisible servants until night falls and in the darkness of night the Cupid arrived and the marriage happened. Cupid visited her every night to sleep with her, but demanded that she should never light any lamps, since he did not want her to know who he was.
After a while, Psyche became very lonely so Cupid allowed Zephyrus to take Psyche back to her sisters and to bring them all down to the palace during the day, but warned that Psyche should not listen to any argument that she should try to discover his true form. The two jealous sisters told Psyche, then pregnant with Cupid's child, that there was a rumor that she had married a serpent who would devour her and her unborn child when the time came for it to be fed. They urged Psyche to wait till her husband was asleep, and then to light the lamp and slay him at once ifhe really was a serpent. Psyche sadly followed their advice. In the light of the lamp Psyche recognized Cupid. However, she accidentally pricked herself with an arrow, and because of this she felt a great desire for him. She began to kiss him, but a drop of oil fell from her lamp onto Cupid's shoulder and woke him. He flew away from her, stricken by the her distrust.
Psyche searched for Cupid for a long time, finally turning to Venus who made her do several, seemingly impossible, tasks; she succeeded, helped by creatures who felt pity at the despair of such a beautiful woman. The last challenge was to ask Prosperina for a bit of her own beauty, because the goddess of love felt that she had lost some of her own because of the stress of caring for her son, and to place the beauty in a box. She was helped yet again, this time by the tower she was going to jump from, so she managed to get out of the Underworld alive. When she got out, she decided to take some of the beauty for herself but when she opened the box, there was nothing in it except for sleep.
By then, Cupid had forgiven Psyche but was trying to figure out to escape his mother and her loathing for the woman he loved. In the room where he lay, cured of the burn form the oil, there was a window and he managed to get himself out. He looked for Psyche, found her and wiped the sleep from her eyes and put it back into the box and sent her to continue her work. Cupid flew to Olympus and begged Jupiter, to help them. Hesitantly, because of all the arrows of love Cupid has sent into his heart many times before, he did; Jupiter called a full council of the gods and declared thathe wanted Cupid to marry Psyche. Jupiter gave her a drink made from Ambrosia, granting her immortality. Venus and Psyche forgave each other, although Cupid is not sure if the forgiveness is sincere
Psyche and Cupid's daughter was named Voluptas, and she became the goddess of sensual pleasures.
Cupid is Love and Psyche is Soul, and so, humans know that Love can never be without Soul.[/ul]
The Extra Stuff
read the rules?: the cat is out of the bag.
rp sample:
It was odd indeed. The tension was unbearable and for no reason at all. She sensed an oppressive silence around her as she blocked her senses. The night wind and its creatures were very distant now. She was taking the duel very seriously now. Fear did that to people.
All Liana saw was Nicoletta. And that was all she felt. Just a blank resolve to battle. She pointed her wand to her enemy, thinking of a good enough opening jinx. Expelliarmus was just too easy. She thought hard, wanting the honor of being the first to attack to be hers. She couldn't think of anything. That was the result of her fear. And it was for absolutely no reason at all. Was it?[/ul]
