christian bale, is the god of gods. he is the ruler of every god and most tend to obey him.
jupiter rules along side his sister and wife,
juno. he shows sympathy for many but at the same time, strikes fear into the hearts of everyone seeing as he has extreme rage issues.
jupiter rules over the heavens and the skies and is known as the god of the sky and thunder. he is the ruler of the laws and social order which provides that many mortals seek out his assistance with their issues. he is the father of mars and son of saturn and ops. his symbol is the lightening bolt.
juno - - - juno - - -, played by
nicole kidman, is the wife of
jupiter. she is also a daughter of saturn, making her
jupiter's sister in addition.
juno is known as the protector of the state and the goddess of matrimony. she is the queen of all gods and is recognized as so as she rules along side her husband. she has a much fairer temperament than
jupiter but tends to harbor a jealousy streak which causes her to blame
jupiter for cheating.
juno is often called upon during times of childbirth or marital troubles. she is favored among the roman soldiers and geese, peacocks, and wild fig trees are sacred symbols of
juno. it is well known that she is also able to throw the lightening bolt as her husband does.
venus valeriana venus valeriana, played by
megan fox, is the perfect example of a goddess. she is beautiful in every way imaginable and her looks are fitting seeing as she is the goddess of beauty and love.
venus has a temple that was specifically dedicated to her by julius caesar which demonstrates how loved she is. she has had relationships with both
mars and
vulcan but takes no permanent lover. in fact, vanity and jealousy seem to be the major downfall of the youthful goddess.
venus can often be noted with symbols such as a snake, dove, swan, and aloe.
apollo - - - apollo - - -, played by
garrett hedlund, is the god of sun, light, clarity, music, lyre and truth. he is the son of the mighty
jupiter, but had a mother that differed from
juno.
juno chased his mother away so that not a place on earth could be found for
apollo to be born. eventually, he was born on the island of delos, away from olympus.
apollo is a great thinker and rather level headed when it comes to disastrous situations. he's been known to flirt with
venus though won't act upon his words.
mars mars, played by
james franco, is one of the most blood thirsty and brutal gods seeing as he is the god of war. born of
juno, he is one of the most worshiped gods. he is the father of both remus and romulus, the founders of rome which only helps to ad to his fame.
mars can always be found in a full suit of armor and is recognized by his symbols of the wolf and the woodpecker. he's easily angered and doesn't settle disputes easily without a physical battle of some sort. the roman army prays to
mars before a battle in hopes that he will aid them to a victory.
minervaminerva, played by
katie cassidy, is quite the busy deity seeing as she is the virgin goddess of warriors, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, crafts, and the inventor of music. born of
jupiter,
minerva was born in the most unusual way as she sprung fully grown from her father's brain. often times,
minerva can be depicted as wearing a coat of mail and a traditional roman helmet along with a spear. she is a trustworthy god, though her temperament serves equal to that of
mars'. she easily angered and believes in justice and only showing mercy to those who deserve it.
minerva's major downfall is that she is out of touch with her emotions and typically doesn't display affection towards others. the sacred animals of
minerva are the owl and the spider, the owl representing wisdom and watchfulness.
ceres - - - ceres - - -, played by
elisha cuthbert, is the goddess of agriculture and grain. she is the sister to
juno,
jupiter,
pluto, and
neptune and believed to be the most livid. she has a mass abundance of endurance, however, she lives her life through her daughter and is extremely protective of her.
juno had promised her daughter,
prosperina to
pluto as a bride. she was kidnapped from the mortal realm and taken to the underworld, terribly upsetting
ceres.
cupid - - - cupid - - -, played by
chace crawford, is the god of erotic love. born of
venus and
mars, he has proven to be an extraordinary god.
cupid is often depicted with bows and arrows, these of which he shoots at people to make them fall in love. at one point, he had fallen in love with the princess psyche. in her beauty, everyone had fallen in love with her instead of
venus, which had caused her to go on a jealous rampage. she ordered
cupid to fall in love with a vile creature, however, in the midst of shooting the arrow at psyche, he tripped and accidentally shot his own foot with the arrow. this led to him loving psyche. because of her love for
cupid,
jupiter turned her into a god so that she could be with
cupid.
hercules - - - hercules - - -, played by
wentworth miller, is a demigod, often portrayed with a lion's skin and a club. he is a champion and great warrior, though not above cheating. however,
hercules was known for making mankind better with the tasks he completed. he was forced to complete the twelve labors in order to earn a spot at olympus. he is somewhat pompous with himself and has a rather large ego, but in the end is a truly good man.
prosperina aurelia prosperina aurelia, played by
danneel harris, is the goddess of the seasons - more specifically, springtime.
venus, in her desperate attempts to find
pluto love, ordered
cupid to hit him with a love arrow. thus,
pluto fell into love with the lovely
prosperina and
jupiter promised his daughter to his brother. she was kidnapped by the god of the underworld and
ceres, in her anger, refused to let the crops grow until she was returned - therefore creating winter. the months spent underground with
pluto are the months of winter and those above are the months of spring and summer.
prosperina is a fair woman, kind, and loving of her husband. however, she tends to be a spitfire at times. she is partially grateful for her marriage seeing as it releases her from her mother's controlling grasp.
neptune - - - neptune - - -, played by
jared padalecki, is the god of water and of the sea. he is brother to
jupiter and
pluto and shares the same temperament as the other two. he is easily angered and tends to show his wrath on the sea and sailors who come into his waters. he is known to have coupled with salacia, goddess of salt water, though as of now, he holds no claims on a woman.
neptune can typically be displayed with a trident of which provides him with many powers.
pluto tituspluto titus, played by
jensen ackles, is one of the most ruthless and morbid gods. he is god of the underworld and rarely ever leaves his perch here. with his chariot of black horses,
pluto captured prosperina to make her his wife, angering
ceres. he is brother to
jupiter and
neptune but considers himself strong than the two. he watches over the underworld and pool of souls and also claims soul. he's got extreme rage issues and rarely shows compassion toward anyone but
prosperina. he is known for cerebrus, the three headed dog, his chariot of black horses, and his invisibility helmet.
